About Don Scott

 

Don Scott is a speaker, a facilitator, and consultant in the areas of technology implementation, team development and project planning. He is president of Lead2Succeed, LLC, a company focusing on personal and team development. He has spent most of the past two decades working in private companies including Control Data, Unisys, and West Group. As a technologist, he specialized in imaging, OCR, workflow, and editorial systems. Other focus areas include quality metrics, automation, software development processes, leadership, and team development. He was awarded a U.S. patent for algorithms he developed related to OCR processing. He has acquired degrees in Electronics, Computer Science, and most recently, a Master of Software Design and Development.

For over 12 years, Don has been active in the Association for Information and Image Management International (AIIM International), serving the Minnesota AIIM chapter board in various roles, including president and educational vice-president. He has served the chapter network as a member of both the CAC (Chapter Advisory Council) and the PAC (Presidents Advisory Council). Don has earned AIIM's MIT (Master of Information Technologies) and LIT (Laureate of Information Technology) in Electronic Document Image Management. He has been awarded AIIM's Distinguished Service Citation. He is a past chair of EmTAG, AIIM' s Emerging Technology Advisory Group. EmTAG consists of consultants, end-users, and academics that act as the 'headlights' of the organization, keeping the Board and membership abreast of the latest technology trends.

Don has been a speaker at the AIIM International Conference since 1999 and regularly speaks at AIIM chapter events. He has presented on various topics including imaging, OCR, workflow, and technology implementation. He has become a regular fixture as a facilitator at the association's annual Chapter Leadership Conference. Don has received rave reviews for his entertaining and engaging style and is even rumored to be funny as well as practical.

This year, Don was nominated and was inducted to AIIM's Company of Fellows, making him a lifetime member of the organization.

Don is an active member of Toastmasters International, the world's largest organization focused on leadership development and public speaking. He was a charter member and former president of the Westerly Winds Toastmaster Club in Eagan, Minnesota and is currently a member of  the Cultivated Toastmaster Club in St. Paul, Minnesota. He has participated in numerous contests for Humorous and International Speech and has won at both the club and area levels. As a member of the District 6 Speakers Bureau, he has represented Toastmasters International by providing inspirational and educational presentations for various groups, including the St. Paul Lions Club, the Kiosk Show, and Elder Homestead.
